Never Let Me Go Review

| | Comments (0)

I kept expecting Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro to take a twist, or for there to be some secret underlying the story, basically, for it to get more complicated. But, as the dust jacket says, it's a "tale of deceptive simplicity." That's not a bad thing, but when I finished reading it last night, I was left wanting more. Looking back this morning though, I can see what a powerful commentary it is on us, the human race. Deceptive simplicity. I think I'll be rolling this one around in my head for a while.
I'm feeling ambitious and topical, so my next book is Closed Chambers : The Rise, Fall, and Future of the Modern Supreme Court by Edward Lazarus. A behind-the-scenes look at the workings of the Supreme Court, from the viewpoint of a former clerk. I find the Supreme Court fascinating, and I look forward to gaining new insight as the latest nominee goes through confirmation hearings.
