Boomsday

Christopher Buckley delivers a scathing and on-target critique of America today in Boomsday. He pulls no punches, going right after the failures of our government with regard to the economy and the military. Of course, you should expect this when the premise of the book is a policy that Baby Boomers "transition" (commit suicide) to avoid draining Social Security. Buckley occasionally delves into the childish (character Gideon Payne is the head of a pro-life organization called "Society for the Protection of Every Ribonucleic Molecule," or SPERM), but is mostly funny in this satirical look at American society. Definitely recommended.
That's the last of my library books for now, so I am back to 1491.
