Another uneventful doctor visit

This must be getting boring to everyone out there, but we had yet another uneventful doctor's visit. Here's how it went:
"How are you doing?"
"Good, no problems."
"OK, good. Let's listen to the heart." (swishing heartbeat sounds, seemd really fast this time)
"Well, everything seems OK. See you in two weeks!"
It did get a little bit more interesting though...

About the only interesting part was when we brought up birth plans, which the doctor seemed to frown upon. She pretty much said she ignores them anyway, and does whatever she feels is right. I though Lisa was gonna throw down with her for a minute there, but she waited and complained to me in the car. Fun.
We're also going to hire a doula to help us out in getting prepared as well as at the birth. Any experiences with doulas and birth plans are welcome to be shared. Information is good!
We've started to get Max the dog acclimated to the coming arrival. When we got the bouncer, we put it on the ground with a doll in it, to get him used to stuff at his level. We put the car seat in the car for the long ride home from Michigan to see how he would react, since he usually likes to stand on the console. He seems to be taking everything pretty well. Hopefully it stays that way.

Hey guys! I love the time you've taken on this website. One of these days you're going to have to help me set one up.

Anyway, I do have a couple of (I hope helpful) thoughts for you. The doula idea is a great one. Sara and I had one for Christian and it really helped prepare us for what was coming. One of the things they show you are videos of actual births. If I hadn't of seen that grey was a normal birth color I probably would've fainted.
She also showed me some great massage techniques to help calm Sara(and earn me "good hubby" points {YAY!}).

As far as the birth plans; though your doc's response sounded a little curt, she does have a point. Discussing birth plans is great for calming your nerves pre-labor, but be prepared for the actual birth to be nothing like you planned. Trust me, Sara didn't plan 24 hours of labor with 4 hours of pushing.

Anyway, I know I'm probably feeling like a pro (though I was still all thumbs for a while this time too) but call me if you have any questions.
Sara says "ditto".

Love ya!
