Ellie

Ellie is asserting herself more in many ways lately. One of those ways is in her requests for entertainment. Mainly, this currently consists of her saying "Baby Booga" (Baby Beluga) and "Bus Round Round" (The Wheels on the Bus go Round and Round), both Raffi selections. Also, whenever we are downstairs watching TV, she requests "doggies", which can be any doggie show that happens to be on at the time, but usually reverts to the Tivo-ed "Puppy Bowl" recording we had saved since Super Bowl weekend. Unfortunately, the Tivo bit the dust, so we immediately had to order the DVD from the Discovery Channel website. And of course, whenever we are on the computer, she requests "fishies" or "babies." Babies refers to baby pictures, mainly of her, Colin, and her friend Claire (not all together). Fishies means the fish screensaver we have. We actually have two fish screensavers, and sometimes it's hard to figure out which one she wants to see. We do plan on getting a real fish tank soon though. She loves tapping on the glass of the aquarium at the nursing home we visit. The fish actually react, which she thinks is hilarious. Plus, it's something that won't rot her brain like TV and the computer.

This is probably only funny to me... But lately, when Ellie whines that she wants her dolly, or her juice, or whatever, and you respond by pointing out the obvious location, she matter-of-factly says, "Oh." She'll be practically bawling, screaming, but when you tell her where it is, a low-volume "Oh."
Trust me, it's funny when you hear it.

Ellie and Lisa stayed with Uncle Roger and Colin (and Aunt Wendy too, she's just not in any of the pictures) in Ann Arbor, while Max and I had to come home and go to work (me, not Max). Some pictures from their visit.

Baby pool or doggie pool? Or both? Colin is strategically shielded by the dog. He apparently doesn't like to go in the pool unless he's naked!

Ellie and Colin visited the "hands on" museum in Ann Arbor and had lots of fun. These pipes play a tune when you slap the top of them.

Making up for my previous nude Colin picture with two of him in a row, fully clothed! I was surprised that Ellie wasn't much interested in the climbing wall, given that she's usually such a monkey. Instead, Colin gave it a shot. I'm assured he was being spotted by off-camera handlers.

Ellie was fascinated by the circling coin. But really, who isn't?

Now this is really cool. The top of the table is covered in water, and they give the kids smocks so they don't get wet. But they can still play with all the cool water toys!

Ellie is surprisingly good at pouring water from one cup to another, so she was a natural at this toy.

I've been obviously too lax in getting these pictures up. I mean, they're almost a month old! They're from our brief trip to the Jersey Shore.
