January 2005 Archives
A little recap of my weekend. It was good, disappointing but most of all it was way too quick. Let's start back on Thursday...I was super-swamped with work, I had a training class for three days and did not get any relief from my regular workload. I had to go home early because I was not feeling well, but still with a lot of work to do. I worked at home, going hot-cold-hot I decided to take my temperature. A whopping 102!! Yay me. The fact that I had so much to do and I didn't want to burn a sick day in January brought me right back in the office and feeling like crap the next day. Not only did I work, I worked a solid ten hours, nice. Saturday was another long day off work, Jenn had to ref so I was home with the munchkins all day. I think I would take that over my Friday every time. Austin is getting so big and a little less needy(except when he is hungry/tired). I did watch a little of the Bulls-Knicks game, shocked that the Bulls could off a last second upset of the Knicks, but they have been playing well. Also watched the incredible disappointment that was the choke of the New York Jets. The life of a kicker, from hero to zero in a week, way to go. Watched some Illini hoops, they're still good. The day flew by. Sunday, I took Taylor to the Fitness Center for a little swim. At first she was a little scared, too many kids and a lot of loud noise. But after a while she would not get out! Not even when the lifeguard blew the whistle for everyone to clear the pool. Unfortunately, she was too little (and unable to swim) so she couldn't experience the water slide which meant no slide for me either. Then I reffed some awful 15 year old volleyball. Had a coach keep complaining about the score when his team was getting whomped, uh worry about coaching a little more/the score a little less and the kids might get better. Made it home to watch the second half of another depressing game, Indy-New England. I guess I can't stand Bill Bellycheck and it bothers me that he gets and takes so much credit for all the great players and assistant coaches that do most of the work. Poor Manning, played exactly how he needed to to win but his teammates didn't make plays for him. That is about it, fun eh.
So, I was a little quick to jump on the Bulls team I referred to as the TerriBulls. They are not exactly tearing it up by blowing teams out but they are winning games. After starting 0 and 9, they are somehow in the hunt for the p-word(won't be jinxing them today). What they have in their favor is the the Eastern Conference is AWFUL. But I have enjoyed watching Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, Adrian Griffin, Othella Harrington and my fave Kirk Hinrich. The Bulls could also have 4 guys in the rookie-soph showcase game, Hinrich(Soph), Gordon, Deng and Nocioni. Thanks to the Raptors for taking Jalen away and thanks to the Knicks for taking Jamal Crawford. Those two guys took the Bulls nowhere and fast. I would take Hinrich or Gordon 100 times before I would even think about Rose or Crawford. Jamal was a pretty good guy off the court from what I hear but on the court he was not a leader and made the same mistakes over and over. Can't play D either. Jalen was great for the first two weeks the Bulls had him...AFter that, he brought nada.
